DENIAL BY KALAM
Now when retiring President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam has made his stand clear on some baseless allegations/comments on his moves by certain political leaders, steps should be initiated against those who made undesirable comments.
In the retirement-eve interaction with media, Dr Kalam mentioned that he always insisted on ‘consensus’ only rather than ‘certainty to win’ for his acceptance for the second term for post of President. Parliament should refer the matter to Privilege Committee to defame the great person as being eager to become President again by ‘certainty to win’.
Dr Kalam has endorsed statement of Union Home Minister in Parliament that there is a set procedure laid down on deciding mercy-petitions filed before the President by those awarded with death-sentence, and President has no personal role at all in taking or delaying the decision. Action is necessary against Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackrey who made ugly and personal comments on Dr Kalam as nation’s President accusing him on delaying decision on mercy-petition by Afzal Guru deliberately on basis of religion.
